I wanted to let you in on a little secret for locating free genealogy charts. If you know where to look, there are somereally good sources of PDF charts and forms available for free download. With the prevalent use of PDF documents andavailability of the Adobe Acrobat reader, PDF documents are a great way todisplay and share your genealogy data.
Personally, I have never really been satisfied with the charts built into the Family Tree Maker software I was using. They always seemed to have formatting issuesand the charts never looked quite right. My dissatisfaction led me to seek out a better way to display my datathat looked good in printed form.
One place to find downloadable PDFs is the website of MisbachEnterprises. According to their website, Grant L. Misbach founded MisbachEnterprises in 1958, and has been supplying the genealogy community withcharts, software and other genealogy supplies for over 50 years. They provide free downloadable PDF versionsof most popular genealogy charts including pedigree, bowtie, fan chart, andfamily group record sheets.
To download the free genealogy charts, just go to their website at http://misbach.org/free-pdf-charts.htmland click on the picture of the chart you want to download. Once transferred on to your hard drive, openthem in Adobe Acrobat and fill in the chart with your own data. You can save your data inside the PDF andcome back later to make changes.
Below is an example of a pedigree chart filled out with myfamily’s information filled in, so you can see what the chart looks like whenprinted out. That is a whole lot ofgenealogy information packed into a 8.5” by 11” piece of paper. The pedigree format makes it really easy toshare your most important information with family members.

Another good source for free downloadable PDF charts isFamily Tree Magazine. They not only havecharts, but also blank forms including census, immigration, deed index, statemarriage, military and cemetery. Like the charts from Misbach, oncedownloaded, the PDF can be load in Adobe Acrobat reader and customized withyour own family information.
What I find so appealing about these free genealogy charts is the abilityto display a lot of information in a clean, professional and eye appealingway.
You can buy some quality paper andprint charts out for family members; I can almost guarantee that you will bethe most popular person at your next family gathering.

Ancestry.com has some free, printable, charts and forms. You do not have to have a membership in order to print out these PDFs. They include: ancestral chart, research calendar, research extract, correspondence record, family group sheet, and a source summary.
RootsWeb
Rootsweb is now an Ancestry.com community. You need to have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to be able to view and use these forms. It appears they print out in a PDF.
They offer: ancestral chart, research calendar, research extract, correspondence record, family group sheet, source summary, and a bunch of forms relating to specific years of the U.S. Census. There are also some printable forms that will help genealogists who are doing research on ancestors who lived outside of the United States.
Genealogy Bank
Free Genealogy Charts And Forms For Download
Genealogy Bank has two different printable family tree charts. You must have Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer in order to be able to access their charts. They offer: free family tree chart template and Kennedy family tree example template.
National Archives
Archives.gov, has a long list of forms and charts for genealogists. They are in PDF format. In order to access them you must have the free Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Archives.gov has a range of military forms, immigration forms, an ancestral chart, a family group sheet, and tons of federal census forms.
